I started a routine of intermittent fasting with the help of Yvonne at "Make a Meal of it" in January 2019. I opted for a "nothing complicated" approach - just setting a daily window in which I could eat and drink whatever I wanted while being careful to control my intake outside of those hours - I guess I'm lucky that I like black coffee!

I was amazed by how easy the whole thing has been - it truly was not complicated, any hunger pangs disappeared in under 3 days and I didn't have to change things like the weekly shop. Indeed, I could even fit it around having a 1 year old in the house, the flexibility of the system means I didn't have to give up Sunday lunch! For the first time, this is a method that I can live with rather than living through!

After 4 months I'm pleased to announce that I've lost 20 lbs but that doesn't tell the whole story - it's great to be able to fit comfortably into clothes that were otherwise going to have to leave the wardrobe and I've seen an improvement in the results of a long term chronic medical condition.

Overall, I can't recommend Yvonne and "Make a Meal of it" highly enough, she has been constantly supportive, making herself available for questions at all hours, and the increase in the confidence I had in the method since I knew I had a source of knowledge available. I'm not intending to stop this style of eating - their are just too many positives.

I was introduced to Yvonne during lockdown. I suffer with a number of health issues mainly connected to a systemic lupus erythmatosis diagnosis when I was 19, which have caused a number of secondary illnesses. These, and my extensive medications have made my weight and overall health bad.  I'd wake up feeling heavy and ill everyday.   I had tried medical intervention for years but finally my GP recommend I look at my diet to see if my nutrition could be adjusted to help. Yvonne and I chatted in the original consultation and I was able to explain this wasn't about weight for me, that was a side effect, I just wanted to feel better.

Yvonne is brilliant.

She listens to what you need and want from her, not what a lot of specliasts do, when they try to convince you to do what they believe is best . Working with her I was able to change my lifestyle to what my body needed. I feel better than I have in years, weight loss was a side effect but not a main reason for the support. I was also able to find out I have an intolerance to cow protein because I switched what I was doing, again not something we were expecting.  Yvonne is one of the kindest , most  genuine, most knowledgeable people in her area of expertise I've ever met.  She treats you as an equal and discusses with you the best way forward for you as an individual. I can honestly say there's nobody I trust more with my nutrition and she's always there if you are having a bad day or just need a question answered.

Please give her a go, you won't regret it.

Yvonne taught me about intermittent fasting. I was surprised at how easy I found it.  I'm not an early eater anyway, too busy sorting the kids. I was carrying baby weight from my second pregnancy (18months on), lockdown hit and I was in a bad cycle of snacking and drinking wine at night.  The fasting window put a stop to this.

I started in Aug 2020 and have adopted it as a way of life now. I don't feel like I am on a diet or deprived. I'm too busy thinking about the day I can go and buy a new wardrobe of clothes!

I've lost 21lbs and am over the moon.
My confidence has increased and skin looks better.

Never thought I'd be able to lose weight, never had to before. Yvonne made if simple, I would get involved all over again, Thank you.

This lady has changed my world!  Not only have we worked through some of the ever returning behaviours associated with yo-yo dieting and the binge to feel better but feel worse cycle.  We have strategised and found eating habits that actually work!  For me, I chose to go all out with the keto diet and take on board the intermittent fasting - which I was already doing to a fashion but without structure or understanding

Half-way through (3months) and I have lost 2.5 stone

Having regular updates and knowing that someone had the answers to my questions really really helped.

Thank you so much Yvonne

I've never been one of those people who could eat what they wanted and still be lovely and slim.  I've always exercised and watched what I eat so generally I was okay with my weight.  I started to notice recently, that even though I was still exercising my weight was starting to creep up.  This was especially noticeable around my middle, which is an area I have never had a problem with before. I couldn't understand why so did a little research and realised that it was probably due to the menopause.

Wanting to stop the weight gain in it's tracks, I decided that I would start a diet and tried a few, but it didn't matter what I did my weight continued to go up.  Feeling really down, I had a chat with Yvonne and she suggested I try the keto or low carbohydrate approach. She explained everything to me so I understood the science behind the suggestion and how this way of eating could help with my menopausal weight loss, as well as other potential benefits.  She also advised me on what I needed to eat, so in July 2020 I decided it was 'all or nothing'.

I found the change of eating habits relatively easy, which surprised me because I love pasta and have a sweet tooth.  But, because I could replace my sweet cravings with cream, raspberries and dark chocolate and there were plenty of 'alternatives' to choose from, I didn't feel as though I was missing out.  By Christmas I had managed to lose the additional weight and I felt much better, with more energy and better sleep.  I also had lots of complimentary comments from friends.

I'm really pleased that Yvonne suggested this keto journey. Going forward I am moving towards a less strict but still low carbohydrate lifestyle, with her help.

I have spent my whole life trying to diet and lose weight and have never been able to stick to anything. I always felt hungry or deprived of things I liked.

Yvonne has helped me change my habits and my whole way of eating, I don't feel deprived and I'm no longer constantly hungry. I didn't even have to change much about what I was ate, just when!  I have a brand new attitude to food now and never feel deprived, with a bonus - I lost 11kg in 6months!

The best thing was that she took to the time to consider my circumstances and didn't try to get me to follow a particular 'diet'.  I feel I have the strategies and understanding to manage my weight and health much better now.  A way of eating, not a diet.

Thank you Yvonne, you've helped me more than you know

Yvonne has given me some fantastic ideas and strategies to help me manage my emotional eating, having suffered for years with cycles of binge eating and dieting, which have taken their toll on my physical and mental wellbeing.  I have had professional support in the past but nothing has helped me as much; I think this is because she has treated me as an individual and tailored the advice to suit my needs.  As a nutritionist Yvonne advocates a low carbohydrate lifestyle but she has not pressured me to take this approach, knowing that it was not what I wanted.

From the moment we were introduced I felt at ease talking to her, she is empathetic and has helped me understand some of my behaviours.  We have put together some effective strategies to overcome the bingeing and have tweaked my diet to a more whole food approach, without adding restrictions to what I can eat, focussing on nutritional value rather than calorific value.

Yvonne is professional, yet friendly and her knowledge of food and nutrition is amazing.  She has helped me enormously (unlike cakes, which made me enormous!) and I would recommend her if you are looking for any kind of nutritional support to improve your health and wellbeing. As she would say,  “it’s not just about a number of a scale” and “diets don’t work”.  She knows, as I do, that eating is more emotion driven than hunger driven and I have certainly changed my approach to food for the better.
